The National Museum of Archaeology, Cagliari is located in the highest part of the city, in the Mediaeval district of Castello. It is part of the museum complex known as the Cittadella dei Musei and is visited by thousands of tourists every year. The museum is the most important, prestigious exhibition of antiquities in Sardinia. Inside are more than 4000 items to tell a story going back almost 7000 years, from Prehistory to the early Middle Ages. The museum itself covers four floors and with its large windows and galleries, it offers excellent panoramic views over the city. Outside, there are plenty of walkways and green areas in which to stop.
In 2014-2016, thanks to the “Museo Liquido” project, the National Museum of Archaeology, Cagliari has had the possibility to become even more accessible. To make the museum experience a pleasing and more complete one for deaf visitors, three Italian sign language videos have been made. Inside the museum there is a monitor with an Italian Sign Language video, complete with subtitles in Italian and English, introducing the visit. Two more Italian Sign Language videos are available along the exhibition route.
