GAMeC di Bergamo

The GAMeC, the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Bergamo, was inaugurated in 1991; the headquarters are an ex convent from the 15th century, renovated by architect Vittorio Gregotti. The museum has a varied cultural policy in its more than 1500 square metres of exhibition space: temporary and group exhibitions by international artists, new projects by emerging artists, historic and artistic exhibition events, and projects for artists linked to the local area. The intention of the GAMeC, working alongside the Carrara Academy and the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts, was to create a dedicated hub in Bergamo.

Accessibility for deaf people

The GAMeC is extremely attentive to the needs or more fragile visitors and pursues dedicated designs to take into account the needs, expectations and obstacles that may be experienced by all visitors. To allow deaf visitors to enjoy the museum to the full, the GAMeC organises guided Italian Sign Language visits on request.
