The Accessibility website is part of the MAPS project – Musei Accessibili per le Persone Sorde [Accessible Museums for Deaf People].
The name MAPS describes the purpose of the association, to make Italian museums fully accessible to deaf people. The project was developed by the Central Office of the ENS (National Association for the Deaf) and is co-financed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.
One of the aims of this project has been to map all of the accessible cultural resources in Italy dedicated to Italian and foreign deaf people, so that they can be accessible free of charge, using new technologies.
AccessibItaly has made this possible; on this portal, deaf people will easily find the museums and locations where they can enjoy a full cultural experience and enjoy the pleasure of art.
